7. Composition
The Master of Music in Composition prepares musicians for professional careers in the specialized and competitive field of composition and arranging. Composition students at California Trinity University receive a diverse and thorough education in the art and craft of composition. The composition program provides student composers the opportunity to compose works for various ensembles and to have their works rehearsed, performed publicly, and professionally recorded. The teaching and learning approach is straightforward: compose, perform the work, listen, learn and compose again. In our upper-division courses, the emphasis is on developing an individual style for each student.
The overarching principle of the composition area is that students are provided with the opportunity to hear their compositions and to create them at the highest levels, in both live and recorded performance.
