ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
 
Applicants must have completed either a Bachelor of Music degree in performance or composition, or show evidence of equivalent rigorous training. Applicants for the Master of Music degree are expected to hold a bachelor's degree in music from an accredited college, university or conservatory. In exceptional cases, a student who has a degree in an area other than music and who has had excellent audition results and experience in music theory and history may be considered.
 
1. In-State Applicants
1. A Graduate Application for Admission
2. A $100 nonrefundable application fee
3. Official transcripts from all colleges from which you have earned credits.
4. A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum 60 units of undergraduate or graduate coursework in education, or a baccalaureate degree or concentration in music
5. A minimum baccalaureate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
6. Two letters of recommendations by professors or employers who have current knowledge of applicant¡¯s academic ability and potential
7. Resume or Statement of personal aims and goals.
8. Successful audition or composition portfolio review
 
2. International Applicants
Submit all of the above applications including the following:
1. Letter of intent indicating applicant¡¯s career objectives
2. Application Fees
3. I-20 Request Form
4. Official TOEFL/IELTS score report (if applicable)
5. An affidavit of support and a bank statement that provides an affidavit of support and a bank statement proving financial ability to pay for educational costs through personal, family, or sponsor resources.
6. Performance resume (performance applicants only)
7. Repertoire list (conducting, instrumental, and voice applicants only)
8. Photo in concert attire (voice applicants only)
9. Composition: submit three sample compositions; scores and recordings (if available).
Scores/recordings will not be returned.
10. Conducting: submit a preliminary conducting video with their application. Those who pass the preliminary evaluation will be invited to audition in person.
11. Official transcripts from all colleges from which you have earned credits.
12. Two letters of recommendation from music teachers/professionals.
