Home > About CTU > Academic Freedom
Our educational philosophy is based on the premise that citizens in a free society must cherish and protect the traditions of academic freedom and responsibility. The University, therefore, is committed to the protection of academic freedom to inquire into and express any social, scientific, economic, political or philosophical issues without interference or fear of penalty from the University as long as the ideas discussed or expressed will not explicitly incite others to violence against University personnel, students, or visitors, general riot, or advocate the violent overthrow of the Government of the United States, and are within the purview of the rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.

A diversity of opinion, of course contents, and of teaching methodology with openness to innovative approaches is not only welcomed but is seen as contributing to the advancement of knowledge. This is in the tradition of the democratic spirit to promote creative thinking and the free, unfettered exchange of ideas on the part of students and faculty. However, students are expected to respect and uphold the reputation, dignity and integrity of the institution, its faculty, staff and their fellow students.
